What data we collect
We only collect personal data when you choose to give it to us. Specifically:
– When you submit work: your name, email address, short bio, and the work itself.
– When you email us: your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message.
– When you visit the site: basic technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) is logged by our hosting provider, WordPress, for security and site function. We do not run separate analytics.
Why we collect it
– Submission data: to read, respond to, and (if accepted) publish your work.
– Email contact data: to reply to you.
– Technical data: to keep the site running.
How long we keep it
– Submitted work and contact details: kept while you remain a contributor, or until you ask us to delete them.
– Unsuccessful submissions are deleted within 12 months.
– Emails: kept up to 24 months unless you ask for earlier deletion.
– Technical logs: handled by WordPress under their own policy.
Who has access
Only the Rind and Root editorial team. We do not sell or share your data with third parties. Our hosting provider (WordPress) processes data on our behalf under its own privacy terms.
Your rights
Under the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and equivalent laws, you have the right to: ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent at any time, complain to a data protection authority in your country.

Cookies
We use only essential cookies needed for the site to work, plus any cookies set by embedded content (e.g. Instagram posts, if present). A cookie banner on first visit lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies.
